Casa Java

By Rebecca - Casa Java

Casa java café is a young business with a big dream and a glorious future in serving the wants and needs of its customers, employees and the wider community. After 18 months of trading we are now in the “adolescent” phase of getting to know exactly what our customers want – and that is quite simple… to be served delicious and nutritious coffee and food in a kind and loving way, within a reasonable time.

Coming from a medical science background, it is my understanding that high quality nutrition is absolutely essential for a healthy body, mind and soul. With the worldwide increase of obesity and its associated conditions, I would like to help people learn about different options for themselves. I believe that we can help ourselves with a move away from heavy gluten and wheat flour based foods and toward food in its more natural state, prepared in a more Mediterranean style, with olive oils and other less processed ingredients. And it would seem that there are a lot of people out there thinking along the same lines.

The café provides us all with a wonderful opportunity to learn more about each other and ourselves. We all come to it with our unique personalities, emotions, moods, wants and needs – both staff and customers – and this generally makes for a colourful day. It is a great lesson that “we are all in this together”, and that by helping somebody else get what they need, we can each get what we need. Come in from the cold and receive a warm welcome at Casa java…our house, your house.

At Casa java you will find:

  • Organic, fair-trade coffee, with the new addition of fully compostable coffee cups and recyclable lids.
  • Our Delicious deli food with an emphasis on gluten-free and vegetarian food, including gluten-free sweets.
  • A fresh and simple menu complimented by homemade-style side dishes of garden and roast vege salads, baked beans, aioli and relish. We use eggs from cage-free hens and cook mostly with olive oil.
What the future holds for Casa java:
  • A continuation of high quality nutrition using fresh, seasonal produce.
  • The use of more environmentally friendly products and business practices that sustain and enrich our environment and brighten our children’s future.
  • The development of a mentoring/education program for those who are interested in having a career in hospitality.
