Miniature Train Ride

Located within the Marine Gardens is the Kapiti Miniature Railway. On Sunday they offer rides around their tracks, which has a route of about half a kilometre. It includes one station, two tunnels, two spirals and two viaducts. It is a fun ride for the kids and young at heart. This is a great family attraction and is often very busy during operational times. There are plans to expand the track so that it has a second station and comes into view of Kapiti Island and Raumati Beach. The rides are held most Sundays (weather permitting) between 1 and 4pm. The Kapiti Miniature Railway are a well known club throughout New Zealand and hold large open days every February, where miniature train enthusiasts from around the country gather.
